V-Rail Provides Sleek Style, Functionality, and Safety at Newly Designed Convention Center

The City of Riverside, CA asked the architectural firm of DLR Group to facilitate the remodel and repurposing of its 40-year old Convention Center into a state-of-the-art facility with a wide variety of exhibit halls, expanded meeting rooms and a redesigned Ballroom.  Architect Dennis Tanida, AIA, LEED AP BD+C says the design was influenced by the community’s desire for the convention center to reflect the city’s historic downtown. He found inspiration in the iconic Mission Inn, which is on the national historic register, and the Fox Theater, built during the opulence of the 1920s. Bell towers have also become a signature architectural element throughout the city so it was fitting that the redesign of the convention center included a 70-foot signature tower that can be seen for miles.

“Other handrails we looked at were bulky with a diameter that just didn’t work for us. We wanted something sleek and sophisticated, yet powerful,” says Tanida. “We are very happy. They work wonderfully and we were able to achieve the look we desired.”
